Explain the function of the following registers in a CPU

These registers are part of the classic CPU structure. The PC (program counter) contains the next address to be
executed and is incremented after each instruction is fetched from memory.
• The MAR is the memory address register. It contains the address of the element in memory currently
being read from or written to.
• The MBR is the memory buffer register that contains the data read from memory or to be written into
memory.
• The instruction register contains the instruction currently being executed.
