Non-Whites are frequently seen in treatment, especially in publicly funded facilities, and may suffer from distrust of agency professionals (especially if they are mostly White). Women (except African American women) are more likely than men to live with a substance-abusing partner. There are few specific treatment models for women. Club drug use is higher among the LGBTQ population, which is at a higher risk for contracting HIV/AIDS due to the lessened inhibitions that come with club drug use. They may also go unrecognized in treatment centers, especially if they are assumed to be heterosexual.
