Briefly explain amenorrhea-galactorrhea syndrome

What will be an ideal response?

In nonpregnant women, excess secretion of prolactin may cause spontaneous secretion of milk from the breasts (galactorrhea) and cessation of menstrual periods (amenorrhea). Galactorrhea results from the effect of the hormone on breast tissue. Amenorrhea occurs because high levels of prolactin also inhibit secretion of pituitary gonadotropins FSH and LH, which in turn leads to cessation of ovulation and menstrual cycles.
