Define and discuss the glass ceiling and the mommy track. How do these impact women's careers?
What will be an ideal response?
The student should indicate that the glass ceiling is a term used to describe the barrier used to discriminate against women and minorities in the workplace. This glass ceiling prevents these groups from being promoted in the organization to higher paying positions. The mommy track indicates positions in an organization that tend to be dead-end. Married women with children are often shunted into these positions. This is based on the myth that women with children are less dedicated to their work and therefore less reliable.
