Describe the assessment protocol in a behavioral health care center that primarily serves homeless men with a preexisting alcohol use disorder.

What will be an ideal response?

Ans: The assessment protocol will depend on the agency’s setting and available services. Usually, the client is initially assessed for primary problem(s) beyond being homeless. This is followed with a brief functional (or specialized) assessment for the extent and severity of alcohol use. A preliminary plan of change is developed with the client that may include detoxification and referral to a transitory housing program with a more comprehensive plan for treating the alcohol use disorder.
