Describe the differences between shared writing and interactive writing.

During shared writing, the teacher does all the writing. During interactive writing, the teacher shares the pen with the children. The teacher invites the children to write some letters or words on the chart. Typically, the interactive writing is a single sentence, while during shared writing the teacher takes dictation from several, but not all, children during a group shared writing experience. Also, the teacher plays a central role in the selection of the sentence in an interactive writing experience. During a shared writing experience, the children are able to generate the sentences.
