Explain the differences between these Internet-access options: Modem, DSL, Cable, and WiFi.

What will be an ideal response?

A modem is a device that translates digital information from the computer into analog signals (audible tones) used by telephones, and vice versa. DSL uses existing copper wires that provide telephone service in the home or office without interfering with voice services. Cable modems are devices that enable high-speed access to the Internet using cable television (CATV) wires instead of telephone lines. Cable modems translate radio frequency signals to and from the cable plant into usable information understood by all computers connected to the Internet. WiFi uses 802.11 wireless technology to connect to networks without wires in order to access the Internet, especially in hotspots.
