Explain what role administrative law and administrative agencies have had or will have in protecting the environment. Why is that role practically necessary?
The federal Environmental Protection Agency has primary responsibility for enforcing mostfederal environmental protection laws including the Clear Air Act, the National Environmental Protection Act, and the Clean Water Act. Other agencies enforce other laws. Many states have a similar structure and role. The task of protecting the environment is largely placed on administrative agencies because the level of minutia and sheer scope of action necessary cannot be
directly carried out by the three branches directly. This is good example of why administrative agencies and their responsibilities have grown so much over the least century.
