Describe the typical horse judging contest.
What will be an ideal response?
A horse judging contest is a competition in which contestants are scored on how accurately they place classes and how well they defend the reasons for placing classes as they did. A typical horse judging contest has eight to twelve classes with four horses in each class. The classes combine halter and performance classes. A class is scored on two things: (1) accurate placing of the class and (2) the organization/presentation of oral reasons. Giving oral reasons involves presenting a short oral defense for placing a certain class. This is done from memory and is 2 minutes or less in time.
