How does the cognitive interview technique differ from traditional interview techniques?

What will be an ideal response?

The cognitive interview technique enhances memory by encouraging the witness to focus in a different way. He or she may be encouraged to remember everything about the physical surroundings rather than focus on the event. He or she may be asked to report everything that is remembered, regardless of how unimportant it may seem. He or she may be encouraged to retell what happened from a variety of chronological points (beginning to end, end to beginning, from a point in the middle). He or she may be asked to recall the event from a variety of points of view.
