Since scientific findings are relevant to the development of governmental policy, why should policy recommendations come after the findings are produced?

What will be an ideal response

It is intellectually dishonest to start with the policy position first and then to try to find some evidence to back it up second. A source lacks credibility if that source has a financial, political, religious interest in promoting a certain policy, or personal ax to grind. Strong critical thinkers are highly skeptical of the so-called "scientific findings" of any group that exists to promote its ideological or commercial interests.
