What is difference between a load-bearing member and a non-load-bearing member?

What will be an ideal response?

A load-bearing member is one that supports gravity loads other than its own load. A non-load-bearing member supports only its own gravity load. Note that the lateral load is not included in the definition because all members must support the lateral loads on them.
