Explain why a dry, hot, breezy day can result in the leaves of certain plants having to completely replace their water

each hour.

What will be an ideal response?

ANSWER: The lower the relative humidity, the lower (more negative) the water potential in the
atmosphere. A hot day will speed evaporation at the leaf surface. Air moving across a leaf
surface carries water vapor away.
