Describe how children learn the three components of emergent literacy: phonological awareness, letter awareness and oral language skills

What will be an ideal response?

Phonological awareness: children can learn something about rhymes and alliteration from games and nursery rhymes but in most cases direct instruction and practice are needed to learn this skill.
Letter awareness: through exposure to letters, words, and books, children gradually figure out that letters are part of printed words, and learn the names of the letters and the sounds they are associated with.
Oral language: children learn oral language from conversing often, from listening to books, and from reciting songs and nursery rhymes.
All of these activities promote memory and comprehension skills needed for reading.
