Under what circumstances would it be wiser for you to employ an interview survey rather than a mailed survey?

What will be an ideal response?

Ans: Varies. You would be wise to use the interview survey when you have semi-structured questions you want to pose in an open-ended format such as “What are your recommendations for how we could improve our services?” This means you do not have sufficient knowledge of response categories to form questions in the closed-ended format for a questionnaire. It would also be wise to use the interview survey if you are in need of depth of understanding on a social theme, such as the phases of moral decline for at-risk youth. This format is more flexible than the mailed survey and provides the researcher with the opportunity to probe for more information from the respondent.
