How can cold coastal currents along the west coasts of continents generate subtropical deserts?
What will be an ideal response?
Answer: Because of the cold water, temperatures in these deserts are generally colder. Also because of the colder temperatures, these areas are extremely dry in spite of lying adjacent to the ocean. Because the air is cooled from below, it doesn't rise upward to create clouds and precipitate. These coastal areas are also famous for their fogs.
