Discuss the difficulties associated with measuring police stress.
What will be an ideal response?
One of the biggest problems associated with measuring police stress is that there is a lack of agreement on a standard measure of job stress. As a result, there have been a number of different approaches employed. Researchers have tried to measure stress perceptually, physiologically, and psychologically. Each method offers its own set of challenges, and as a result, it is difficult to get an accurate measurement of levels of stress among police officers. In addition, stress levels may vary across communities, so what officers experience in one location may vary significantly than another.
