Explain what the experiential effect is and how it relates to criminal activity.

What will be an ideal response?

: Experiential effect is when people’s previous experiences and behaviors influence perceptions of their chances of getting caught and the severity of the punishment. This concept could be related to criminal activity because it is illustrated via the punishments of people who break the law often. An example would be the perception of a person who drinks and drives often. Compared to a person that rarely drinks and drives, the person who does it more often predicts that his/her chances of getting caught are very low because he/she has done it so often without getting caught.
