What is the purpose of law? What would a society without laws be like?

What will be an ideal response?

The purpose of law is to regulate relationships between parties and between people. Without civil law, people would not know what to expect from each other; without criminal law, people would not feel safe; without constitutional law, people could not exercise their basic rights as a citizen. Society needs laws to uphold fairness and to prevent the victimization of innocents.
