Imagine you are forming a school protest regarding the costs of higher education. How would you ensure that your cause adequately represents the student body in its entirety? How can majority groups help minority groups?

What will be an ideal response?

Varies. Students should discuss the concept of intersectionality. Various student groups are impacted differently by the costs of higher education. For example, a White middle-class male may be less impacted than an African American working-class female. The protest should not JUST be about higher education costs, it should be about the lived experiences students face when confronted with the cost of higher education. Hardships endured by students are not one-size-fits-all. We must take into consideration class, status, gender, race/ethnicity, immigration status, and more. Majority groups such as White middle-class males should use their power to advocate for minority groups. The needs of minority groups are often ignored because the dominant class doesn't experience their struggles. This may leave majority groups feeling that they have no reason to advocate for minority groups, because it can be perceived that they will receive little benefit for their advocacy.
