Describe the anxious ambivalent attachment style.

What will be an ideal response?

An infant would experience overwhelming distress when separated from the mother and were so preoccupied with their mother that they could not explore and play. When reunited with the mother, some infants demonstrated anger and would actively seek connection with the mother then reject the mother’s attempts at comforting them. Other infants would demonstrate passivity regarding the reunion and were so overwhelmed that they were not able to approach their mother for the comfort they needed. As adults, they report lower levels of self-esteem and perceive themselves more negatively in intimate relationships.
