Young people are more likely to be arrested and convicted, as are people from impoverished areas, non-Whites, and various ethnic groups. Women are more likely to be victimized by crime, and LGBTQ individuals by hate crimes. Non-Whites are often skeptical about the ability of the criminal justice system to treat them fairly.
