Explain the concept of convergent evolution using an example

In similar conditions, multiple evolutionary heritages may develop similar beneficial adaptations. These accumulated adaptations result in organisms that appear superficially similar, despite having descended from different ancestors. For example, sharks (fish), icthyosaurs (reptiles), penguins (birds), and dolphins (mammals) have evolved similar shapes that help them swim quickly and efficiently.
