How are verbal autopsies of benefit in regards to data collection?

What will be an ideal response?

The verbal autopsy is another innovative feature associated with health and demographic surveillance (HDS), but is also used throughout the world when mortality data are not routinely collected. When a death is reported, an interview is done with a close associate of the deceased to ask about the symptoms, signs, and circumstances leading up to the death. The answers usually point to a cause of death. In this way, important information can be collected in areas where no other data exists, which is an advantage of using HDS.
