How do the revised Stanford-Binet intelligence tests differ from the original Binet test?

The original Binet test was devised as a method of identifying children who were unable to learn in school. This test consisted of 30 questions, ranging from the ability to touch one's ear to the ability to draw designs from memory and define abstract concepts. This original version relied on the concept of mental age as a scale for reporting test results. Subsequent versions of the test differ in the following ways: (a) they have been made appropriate for a larger range of ages; (b) the item types are more varied; (c) there is an analysis of five aspects of cognitive ability (fluid reasoning, knowledge, quantitative reasoning, visual-spatial reasoning, and working memory) and two aspects of intelligence (verbal and nonverbal intelligence); and (d) a general composite score is obtained to reflect overall intelligence.
