Describe how horsemanship relates to equitation.

What will be an ideal response?

Horsemanship is similar to equitation in that it is also judged on the rider’s ability to ride and control a horse. The proper position for horsemanship is similar to that for hunt seat equitation. A straight line should be drawn from ear to shoulder to hip to heel. Stirrup length is somewhat longer than that for a hunt seat rider, however. For western horsemanship, the stirrup should be just short enough for the heel to be lower than the toe. Stirrups should be placed on the ball of the foot. Both hands and arms should be relaxed with the upper arms in a straight line with the body_
