Compare Hitler, Stalin, and Mussolini. What were some goals and methods they had in common? In what ways were they different? What is the meaning of totalitarianism, and how would it apply to Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union, and fascist Italy?

What will be an ideal response?

Ans: There are many acceptable ways of approaching this question, as long as evidence is cited for statements made. Of the three, Mussolini seems the least doctrinaire; Stalin the least interested in personal popularity and contact with the people. As a mass murderer, of course, Stalin killed by far the most people. The concept of totalitarianism should offer a challenging unifying theme.
