Pargament stated that therapists sometime take biases into the therapy session when they have stereotyped and/or negative views of religious concepts and people. In addition, the therapist may have spiritual myopia where the perceive religious/spiritual matters in a narrow, undifferentiated manner. A therapist may also experience spiritual timidity in which they avoid conversations about religious/spiritual matters.
