Why are there such wide variations in estimates of IPV?

What will be an ideal response?

This variation has to do with how researchers measure IPV. This can change due to sample and survey design. But most specifically it has to do with how IPV is defined. Some surveys only include physical acts that result in harm, which is a very restrictive definition, whereas other are more inclusive. More inclusive definitions often include economic abuse and coercive control. These numbers also depend on who is asked about experiences of IPV.
