Compare and contrast the causes of cerebral palsy, spina bifida, epilepsy, and asthma

What will be an ideal response?

As with other disabilities, the precise cause of all three conditions is usually not known, but both genetic and environmental factors play a role. CP is caused by prenatal, perinatal, or postnatal damage to the brain that can be either genetic (brain malformation) or environmental (infection, lack of oxygen, injury) in origin. SB occurs during the first month of gestation (prenatal) and can be brought on by interaction of genetic and environmental factors. Genetic factors are not well-known, but known environmental factors include maternal exposure to certain medications, hyperthermia, maternal diabetes, and obesity. It is know that using prenatal vitamin supplements with folic acid reduces the occurrence of SB. Epilepsy is also caused by a combination of genetic factors
