What are some factors that a family should consider before choosing an assisted living facility?

What will be an ideal response?

There are many things to consider when choosing an assisted living facility, such as how will the facility respond to the changing needs of the client? Is the facility near family, friends, and shopping? What is the facility's philosophy of care? Do they admit those with severe cognitive or physical impairments? What type of training do staff members receive? Are staff members required to complete continuing education? What types of social and recreational activities are offered? It is wise to visit the facility more than once and unannounced. Families may watch the interactions of staff and residents, visit at mealtime to determine the quality of food and service, and importantly, talk to the residents who live there.
