Why is keeping agreements such an important way to control stress?

An agreement is a verbal or non-verbal commitment that we intend to complete a certain action. If we say we will do something, and then we do it, we have kept an agreement. When we keep agreements, we maintain our integrity. When we don't keep agreements, integrity is lost. Lying, cheating, and stealing are examples of not keeping agreements.

We make agreements every day. We even make agreements with ourselves. We say to ourselves that we will get up on time, clean the house, forgive someone, or not drink any more caffeinated beverages. Keeping agreements is one of the greatest demonstrations that you are choosing to be responsible for your life and the outcomes you create.
