Explain the difference between implicit and explicit memory.

What will be an ideal response?

Ans: Explicit memories require conscious awareness for encoding and recalling the memory of the trauma. Implicit memories do not entail the automatically conscious experience of thinking or remembering. These motor memories are encoded in the subcortical parts of the brain where the capacity for symbolic thinking and language does not exist. There is some overlap between implicit memories and explicit memories.
