When sucking liquid into the tip of a micropipette, why do you release the push button slowly?

What would be an ideal response?

With a rapid release, you could draw up liquid beyond the maximum volume, which could be more volume than the tip of a micropipette can fit. In that case, the liquid could reach into the pipette itself, which can end up damaging it.
