What is meant by student engagement and how does it impact learning?

What will be an ideal response?

It is defined as a student's involvement in curricular and extracurricular activities and feelings of belonging within the school. It is a significant predictor of whether students with earning and emotional or behavioral problems will drop out or remain in school. When students experience some success at school, when the school has a positive social/interpersonal atmosphere, when students can and do take classes that are relevant to their lives and future goals, and when there are supports for students experiencing personal problems, students are more likely to stay in school.
