Discuss what Visual Basic offers in terms of report functionality.

What will be an ideal response?

Besides offering tools to create Windows, Web, or VSTO applications, Visual Basic 2010 also provides developers a fully integrated and robust reporting solution for publishing professional reports on Windows and Web applications. Microsoft has two built-in types of reports: Microsoft ReportViewer and Crystal Reports. The Microsoft ReportViewer is a feature within Visual Basic that allows you to create interactive reports and forms for many types of data, such as names and addresses from a database for creating and printing labels or for posting information online or on Windows forms. The Microsoft ReportViewer tool provides a fast and productive way to create and integrate presentation-quality reports without leaving the familiar Visual Basic development environment. Visual Studio 2010 introduces a Report Wizard, which guides you through the steps to create a basic report. You will select a report data source such as a database, define a data set, select a report style, and apply a style to the report.
