How would you describe the impact of the Mongols and the Soviet Union on the history and development of Central Asia?
What would be an ideal response?
The Mongol Empire controlled Central Asia beginning in the 13th and 14th centuries. Due to their time ruling over the area, Mongol influence can still be seen in culture and in even in physical features of the people who live there. In the 20th century, the area came under the control of the Soviet Union. Under Soviet rule, Russian became the official language of many of the Central Asian countries. Today, it is still one of the main languages spoken in the area.
