What is meant by your textbook authors' statement: "Differentiated instruction is a logical companion to universal design for learning"?

What will be an ideal response?

Both attempt to ensure that instruction reaches all students regardless of their differences. This type of instruction modifies traditional instruction because the teacher uses more than one instructional methodology, such as increasing access to materials in a variety of formats, expanding test-taking and data-collection options, and varying the complexity and nature of content presented during a unit of study. This kind of instruction differentiates curricular content, instructional process, product requirements, and assessment practices to promote students' access to and success with the general education curriculum.
