Do routers forward RIP packets? In other words, does PC1 receive RIP packets sent by Router 3?
What will be an ideal response?
No. Destination network information can be propagated to the other neighbor routers, but the RIP packet is not forwarded. Only local neighbors can obtain the RIP packets from their neighbors.
In the captured data, the RIP messages are not forwarded across routers:
o PC1 only receives RIP updates from eth0 (10.0.1.1) of Router1.
o PC2 only receives RIP updates from eth1 (10.0.2.1) of Router1 and from eth1 (10.0.2.2)
of Router2.
o PC3 only receives RIP updates from eth0 (10.0.3.2) of Router2 and from eth0 (10.0.3.3)
of Router3.
o PC4 only receives RIP updates from eth1 (10.0.4.3) of Router3.
