How does today’s climate compare to most of the Earth’s history, and what does that information

indicate about how human activities can affect climate?

What will be an ideal response?

The earth is currently in a relatively cool period, relative to the history of climate. While the Earth’s
climate has experience repeated temperature shifts, the changes have occurred slowly relative to the
lifetime of individual organisms, which allows adaptations of populations and evolutionary lineages.
Evidence suggests that today’s climate is changing faster today than in the past.
