Benefits—past crimes don’t make it that much harder to find a job (there’s still
second-stage issues when the question can come up). Drawbacks—employers don’t
know right away about the criminal history, and if they never find out, that could put
others at risk. Some argue that discrimination is more likely with ban the box as a policy.
