Distinguish between spring tides and neap tides
What will be an ideal response?
Spring tides occur when the Earth, Moon, and Sun are arranged in a 180° pattern. This means that the lunar tide (tidal bulge generated by interaction of Earth and Moon) and the solar tide (tidal bulge generated by interaction of the Earth and Sun) are additive, constructive interference, producing highest high tides and lowest low tides. Neap tides occur when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are arranged in a 90° angle. This arrangement means that the lunar tide and solar tide are in destructive interference, minimizing high and low tides.
