Explain the operation of the magnetically coupled linear sensor.

What will be an ideal response?

Magnetically coupled linear sensors have a magnet attached to the end of a movable arm. A resistor card and a magnetically sensitive comb are located next to the magnet. When the magnetic field passes the comb, the fingers are pulled against the resistor card contacting resistors Different contact sites on the strip produce different resistances that are used to determine position.
