Should there be a universal acceptance of a parent-child privilege? Why or why not?
What will be an ideal response?
The student response should be based on the following from the chapter; that some states have allowed such privilege on a limited basis and such questions must be answered first. Can a parent be compelled to testify against a child, Could a child be compelled to testify against a parent? Or could either voluntarily testify against each other? Issues such as competence, credibility and reasons other than the truth should all be considerations.
