The idea behind cloud computing is that companies store data and software on the Internet, then access it and run it all over the Web from their office computers, which thereby don’t need as much storage space or as much expensive software. Cloud-computing customers do not own the physical infrastructure where they store their data and software, instead avoiding capital expenditure by renting usage from a third-party provider. They consume resources as a service and pay only for resources that they use.
