An acceptable answer will be able to define what empowerment is and note that it does not mean that power disappear from the scene; a good answer will talk about Sewell and Barker’s studies, while a superior answer will recognize that power is irremediable in organizations and that technologies such as empowerment can intensify its experience, by making the exercise more multi-faceted, in ways that relate to the effects of the Panopticon – where employees are made responsible for their own and colleagues policing.
