What is the advantage of being a C4 or CAM plant? In what environments would these types of plants have a selective advantage, and why?

What will be an ideal response?

C4 and CAM plants do better in warm or hot, dry environments. They can keep their stomata closed longer without undergoing photorespiration, thus conserving water and still having enough CO2 available for the Calvin cycle.
