Explain why some people fear genetically modified foods despite commercial organization claims that these foods are safe for human consumption

What will be an ideal response?

Some people feel that genetically modified foods haven't been around long enough to allow for assessing the long-term effects of consumption. These foods may contain allergens that could lead to serious medical problems. The use of genetically modified foods could lead to herbicide resistance in other agricultural crops and weeds due to cross-pollination. Pollination of these plants could contaminate other plants and produce "super" weeds.
