What is a citizen marketer? What are the four types of citizen marketers? What is a compelling reason why firms should avoid creating their own citizen marketers?
What will be an ideal response?
Citizen marketers are ordinary consumers who are heavily engaged with certain products or industries. They are not paid promoters of products, but rather feel passionately about them and typically rely on non-media outlets to express this passion. The four types of citizen marketers are filters, fanatics, facilitators and firecrackers. Firms may feel tempted to cultivate their own citizen marketers; however consumers are very savvy at spotting such fabrications. Consumers want to feel that the interactions they are having with companies today are transparent and authentic. Employing phony citizen marketers would endanger a firm's credibility.
