Why is Indonesia considered the leader in tropical deforestation?

What will be an ideal response?

?Indonesia cuts and burns large areas of rainforest and plants huge oil palm plantations, adding large amounts of CO2to the atmosphere. Palm oil harvested from the fruit of the trees is used to make biodiesel fuel for cars, as well as thousands of other products, including detergents, food products, and cosmetics. Producing palm oil is very profitable because of high yields and a failure to include the harmful environmental effects of palm oil production in its market price. Indonesia has the world's third largest area of undisturbed tropical forest. However, according to the UNEP, 98% of its undisturbed tropical forest will be destroyed by 2021, unless strict conservation measures are implemented and enforced.
